What kind of damage is this?

Right in the area of the ear on this Morgan there seems to be a weird V shaped deep dent. But I'm new to this so maybe it's just post circulation damage. The coin doesn't seem to be in too bad of shape though. I hope the picture is clear enough. Any input?

Probably a hit with a sharp object.

 

It's just damage. We can only guess what caused it.

 

Post mint damage. That coin took a real ding.

 

Yeah. It sure did. It's probably hard to tell from the pic but it's a very deep ding.
