Jerome, according to my 1987 Seaby's catalogue,S7. is a Gallo-Belgic Stater. The first Ancient British coin is S19.,which is the Westerham type Stater. The former is a French issue (doesn't count as a British Commonwealth coin,I'm afraid!),but the latter being an English issue,is definitely a British Commonwealth coin.

Drusus,Great Britain is actually a young country,as it only dates from 1707.By expanding it to include the British Commonwealth is for those who collect coins from Great Britain's predecessor states to get themselves involved in this thread.

Jerome, that is a very commonly found reign to have represented, but isn't Bury St. Edmunds one of the scarcer mints?

You are not wrong about the coins of King James II of England & Ireland,& King James VII of Scotland. They are tough to find. You should spend your 150 Quid on the Irish Gunmoney 1/2 Crown,as that is an extremely tough coinage to get represented.I have a holed Sixpence (6d.) dated Jan 1689 as my only representative in this very historic coinage.

    Ardatirion Où est mon poisson

England - Edward I penny (Its not too clear, I haven't identified it by Spink # yet)
    Scotland - Charles I 20 pence, 1637 - 1642, Spink 5589

I have Canadian and other scattered Commonwealth coins, but I don't feel them worth mentioning.

Bill, the Scots silver 20d. coin is quite a difficult coin to find.I've got a Scots 40d. coin though. Can you please post some photos of your 20d. coin?

I wonder that Romans and even Plantagenet know they now part of British commonwealth?

Krasnaya - I'm sure the Romans would be a bit surprised! But the Plantagenet's would probably be cool with it. Until those damn Tudors come along, at least!

Aidan - Sure, I'll post some images as soon as I can get near a scanner or camera. Which may take a while. I also have a 1679 bawbee and, just this weekend, won a 1669 Merk.
