    Great coins all. Animal coins are great... I had a hard time choosing which one to post photos of, but decided on this one. Ceylon, 1957 5 Rupees silver crown, celebrating 2500 years of buddhism. Several animals on the reverse. Lion, bull, elephant, horse/donkey and ducks. The ducks are my favorite part.

    Here is one from Guyana, and two from Papua New Guinea. All have animals on both sides. All are proofs from FM. Very well done coins, I especially like the tortoise 5 toea.

    Any specs or marks are on the flips that the coins are in.

    As to the original post. The "hedgehog" is in fact an echidna, which is related to the platypus. Like the Platypus, it lays eggs.

    That is a gorgeous coin! Beautiful reverse. Great detail on the dolphins.

    WOW, Never seen so many coins with animals on them. Love the lady & Lion as well as the Australias octopus.
