All amazing coins guys... beautiful... many I am quite envious of. When it comes to my world coins... I have trouble choosing just one favorite...but these two would be close to the top...

I think I paid right around $100. To be honest, I won it on E-Bay and have no idea how much it is actually worth.

Hmm, Greenland has a population of about 60,000 - and does not actually have its own currency. Today they simply use the Danish krone. There are plans to issue regional paper money, but that would (like today's Faroese notes) just be DKK notes with a different design. Contrary to the 1987 piece depicted in this topic, the one from 1926 is actually a coin though.

    My Russians...

I'm Russian, and have two favorite coins that are the core of my collection:

First, my 1896 Rouble coin that was minted to commemorate the crowning of the new (and last) Czar Nicholas II... mintage 190,000 roughly:

Second, my 1913 Rouble that was minted to commemorate 300 years of rule by the Romanov family:

I like them all. This 500 Lire from Italy is one of my favorites with the young girl dressed in medieval clothes. As I recall, it only cost me a few dollars.

This is probably one of my favourite (non-US, non-ancient) coin: Netherlands - Gorinchem Rose Noble struck in the name of Edward IV around 1580.

  14. I have a really hard time choosing. My collection is dwarfed by most here but I love them all. (or else I wouldn't have them!)

It's down to four I think:

    My first Ancient
My first coin from the 1700s
    My Poland 1623 3 polker
The 1987 French half franc that I have somewhat arbitrarily decided was the first I had, because I clearly remember my dad bringing it home from work, and I don't remember exactly getting my others that I got in the mid 1990s

Or perhaps it is the Canadian 1964 cent that has major doubling on it...even though the people here and elsewhere told me it was nothing special, it's special to me.

It really changes, every time I look at my coins. Every one I am looking at at that moment is surely my favorite right then!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to buy any really expensive coins yet, but I love big coins so my favorite is probably a Chinese 100 Cash coin I got that my great uncle brought back from his army days. It is the biggest coin I've ever seen, much bigger than a U.S. silver dollar. I also love coins with historically significant rulers on them, so the best I have right now is a few English George III coins.

I'm sort of cheating because I call this one a U.S. coin when posting on that forum but here I guess I'll call it a world coin ;)

Sticking with Collect89's pretty lady theme....

Thailand 1968, in commemoration of Queen Sirkit's 35th birthday(correct me if I'm wrong). 300, and 150 baht .900 gold. The 300 baht has much nicer fields.

My photography still isnt perfect and missed some of the color on this one. Copper(in this case bronze) is tough to nail down.
