I forgot to add, finding a 1936 DDO die 1 in my dealers "junk" wheat cent box. Just went through and picked all the 1936 cents out, and looked at them closely without magnification. The 36 ddo has thicker date than the non ddo, so when I found one that looked the part, I bought it with some other dates I needed for my album, and when I looked closer, score!

I can't believe you found a 69-S DD in circulation!

I couldn't believe it either, my girlfriend thought I had lost it, I was totally stoked about it. The guy at the front desk at anacs told me it was likely I had machine doubling, and that they get md coins all the time that people think is the big ddo! He took it back to the graders after I insisted I knew what I had, and the hand shakes and congratulations issued!

I still haven't found a 1995 or any of the 1972 ddo in circulation though.

As close as I am to Denver, I'm sure you can guess what I usually find

    I'd trade all the 72's and 95's that I've found for that 69S :)

All I can say is that the rare ones are still out there and that there is plenty more to be discovered out there.

I still get excited if I find a cud or wheat back... But can't say the same about my girlfriend!

  16. What was it graded as and how much did it sell for?

It was one of the two I sent to NGC that they graded MS-67 and it sold for $800+, but I think it should have been maybe a 65 at most. That was several years ago. I have some that are much nicer in 2x2s.
