what is wrong with the mint

Dragon, I have heard that a lot of people who order after the sale closes get their order. It seems that a lot of people return a large number of orders, for one reason or another and these are reissued to those who got in late. So maybe you will get your after all.

It's good to read all the other posts The ship date haved stayed the same for the past few days I just hope the mint dosn't change it again.

 

sorry i had a little problem. Drageon i have seen or heard some of the coin folks say that the gold and silver sets sold out in less than a day and the prices they are trying to sell these at one would have to believe them but the last i checked they are still available at the mint. These people are fun to watch much like wrestling but i am not sure i would buy an apple from them especially old butter lips r and the blond that seems to have wondered off the street. The mint relizes that some of the sets will never be shipped for various reasons i.e credit card ,change of heart ect. and as guardian said some will be returned. The mint know that a number will be retuned or never shipped and accepts back up orders in anticipation of these losses. I ordered mine at approx. 5 pm on the 2nd day and i know they took orders for several more hours. if I receive one then one can expect it to be the last little group but who really knows. I would like to think that the mint would not have accepted these orders if there were not a reasonable chance of filling them. As i understand it these "non promised set" are use to fill the back up order and the mint has some discreation on how they are distributed (people who order 10 may not get 10). Anyhow as a good friend of mine said "you can't out guess them" i think these are good words to live by. Also if ones order is still in process and not canceled then i would think they are still in the loop. the mint seems to be setting up a lot of limited additons. am wondering how many people will jump at the APE becouse of the AGE .

dragon i really hope big time you get it. but look what is coming up the APE 10k set. have heard that the george and martha set will come in a limited 10k collectors additon but not sure about that. i do not even really keep up with things but it seems the mint will have more stuff coming up than you can shake a red book at. lots of ways to spend money . good luck

My order on the second day was just a hour or so before yours so maybe one or both of us will luck out. I remember someone who ordered the Franklin Commemorative dollars indicated that their order was filled after the sellout was announced. But I'm thinking taht there will be few (if any) of these babies returned. By the way, I do not buy from the television talking heads. But their shows are pretty good entertainment and sometimes I pick up some useful information. That APE set should be white hot. You are right, the Mint has figured out numerous ways to collect our money!

 

dragon i would like for you to go to the mint page and look at what it says about the American Legacy Collection think it is 5s1 something like that. look at what it says about processed/processing sell outs and inventory and next in line and how that may apply to your order. I am not looking at a lot of them being returned so much as never leaving. if one does not have their act together the mint moves to the next one. 2600 bucks is a lot of money to most people, me included. I was told that my credit card looked fine by a specialist so apprently it had been checked I agree the coin tv people do have some good information and are entertaining. I had to start drinking de-caff. coffee and the show in the early morning really gets my blood boiling . i must thank them for that. you know for a little i would cancel mine but this is the most fun i have had with it since i ordered the thing. the silver is really what i wanted. lets just see what happens . if i do not get it, i have had my eye on small boat. Probably be more healthy . talk soon

 

Heh, this morning my legacy sets had a ship date of 10/26, now ship date is
back to 12/15 after about 8 hours.

My 3 pc.silver set now sits at expected to ship 12/8. I think they just like playing with us.

 

Most replys here are examples of individuals that do not work for an organization where your job is secure, you are paid by tax payers, your considered a government employee, You have great benifits paid for by the same people that complain about you, you get automatic raises regardless of your performance and you can go home at the end of a day and say "so what about our customers". Don't forget they sort of have a monopoly on producing coins and if you don't like thier service where else can you go? When I order proof or uncirc sets from them I just keep my fingers crossed untill everything arrives.

group i was referring of the t65 ape set coming out this year it has a listed mintage of 10k according to the mint flyer. then there will be the anniversay set , another limited one i am sure . The presidential coin and the misses is something i read and they were speaking of a limited (love that word) collectors additon in the 10k range but again i am not certain of this. thanks for the stats Nd86. again to the point and informative. Oh i was watching one to the coin shows and they say they should have the silver eagles set on next monday . think it was coin country, these people are a trip

 

I checked the mint web site a few minutes ago and the 3pc sae set has shipped and is scheduled to be delivered today!

I did receive my sae sets today and they are very nice as expected also i checked status of my gae sets that i was next in line for and the date has been changed to 11-6 with order in process

 

Received my 5 ASE sets today too, didn't even have a chance to open them, just fwd the damm thing to PCGS.

 

my ship date on the age has also change till 11/06. maybe we want have to ride the "expected to ship" treadmill this time . We shall see. Almost enuff people in here to start a "next in line" group. glad to hear drb would think i should get the ase soon.

 

Has anyone got an update on the next in line waiting on the 3pc gold anniversary set. I ordered one after the sell out and have been on order in process for a while now. For a long time it said expected ship date 11/06 then for a while now it has said expected ship date 12/06. I just checked and it still says 12/06 and today is the 16th. Thanks in advance for any ideals as to what is going on and if you think we will still receive these sets.

I think they are all gone. For some reason, the Mint will not cancel orders that will never be filled. The least they could do is notify the customer that the order will not be filled.

I wish i understood the methodology being used for shipping. For instance, on another forum, I have seen where people claim they have received shipping notices on the ASE set that the sequence of numbers is higher than mine. I called the Mint and the rep I spoke with said he had no kiea as to how they determine when to ship. My ASE set has been in stock and reserved for almost two weeks now and still not shipped. Not that I am in a hurry, but concerns me a bit when I see others getting their orders shipped that apparently were placed after mine.

As for the AGE set, since they have some problem cases I assume that is why they have not cancelled orders? Seems to me that they could cancel all but the top 100 on the waiting list if that is all that is left. Don't get me wrong, I olve the MInt products and am sure I will continue to be a customer. But I think they have some problems they need to address quickly with packing and shipping (and customer service).
