[QUOTE="Mulligan, post: 83701, member: 3577"]Hi all, First of all Id like to thank all who have helped me with coin questions in the past..... :D Ok, this 1853 dollar has what I think are mounting marks, although Im not sure as they are so small, almost invisible to the naked eye and only clear when magnified X60.... There is a lot of excess metal on this coin, from what look like die cracks to doubled stars, again invisible to the naked eye and only show up under magnification. The first photo is of what I think are mounting solder marks, The second, third and fourth are the 'doubled' stars behind Libertys neck and the rest are of various 'cracks'? Any ideas on what is up with this coin? Is it even real? Thanks in advance to you all...
