Well since the entire thing proved to be 100% groundless and was thrown out, and I'm quite sure you know that, what possible purpose could be served by posting such a link - except to sling mud ? Of course now it is always possible that you didn't know it was thrown out because you are not as knowledgeable as you always pretend to be. So which is it ? It has to be one or the other. Were you slinging mud just for the sake of slinging mud ? Or is it true that you really don't know what you're talking about ? Major - you're skating on thin ice. I suggest you start thinking about what you say, before you say it.
To try and get this back on a numismatic topic.... You wanna see me get blown out of the water? Watch this auction: http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=1140&Lot_No=57 I bid $1,500 ($1,725 w/juice) -- for now. The same coin sold for just south of $3k in 2007. IIRC, my bid of $2k didn't last long then either.... I think this will be an interesting auction to watch. High-end RB coins in old NGC slabs tend to do well if the coin's all there -- and this one appears to be....Mike
I know how you feel. I've bid at Heritage a thousand times at least, and have never won a thing. But, I don't get caught up in the bidding frenzy. I set my max price and let it ride. One of these days I may actually get lucky...if enough other bidders are sleeping at the wheel. Guy~
Don't feel bad. There is a similar discussioin about this on the NGC forum. Chris http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3980147#Post3980147
Im surely getting ripped off by shill bidders. I find a nice coin worth about 3k and i bid $1900, sometimes even as high as $1950 and i still get outbid!!!!! Someone really needs to look into this problem.
Let's see! A coin is worth $3K and you expect to win it for $1900-$1950. HMMMMMMM! Not going to happen unless everybody is sleeping. Chris
I bid $500 over the value of one auction and during live bid I was outbid so I kept bidding up until, before I realized it, the auction was over and had I bid up the next item and won it. Now I'm the proud owner of a coin I did not want. Seems they could at least wait 'til bids stop coming in before closing.
If you find that you accidentally won the wrong item through Heritage Live, let us know as soon as possible. We know that that can happen, and we can work with you to make things right. FWIW, we do have a lot of things in place to ensure that we keep taking bids until there are no more bids coming, including an automatic reopen of the lot if we receive a bid within three seconds of the time the lot is closed. This catches a lot of the problems. Unfortunately, Internet lag can defeat even the best of intentions, and we have no control over that.
I know of at least one other auction firm that closes internet bidding well before live bidding ends. Wouldn't this help to avoid the problem of the internet lag time? Chris
We close regular Internet bidding hours before live bidding starts, to be sure. However, closing lots early for Heritage Live bidders would not work for many, many reasons, not the least of which is that on many lots (and some entire sessions), the only people bidding are coming from Heritage Live.
