image.jpg image.jpg I’ve been going through a lot of one dollar bills, when I stumbled upon this, I didn’t know what it was and I couldn’t find any help on the web. If you know what the stamp is, or was, please let me know. Thanks!

Looks like an impression from a postal date stamp, the kind used to hand cancel stamps at the post office - maybe the bill was at the top of a stack of singles and the window clerk applied the date stamp to the strap holding the bundle together - once a window clerk accumulates 100 singles, he'll usually strap them together, date stamp the strap (on the blank spot) and exchange the excess singles for other denominations.

thanks, Ken - you explained it better with less words ;) - I was reminiscing about my window clerk days at the P.O.

Thank you all, I never knew about how the bills get stamped for every stack. The more you know.

Looks like a bank tellers stamp. It's considered damaged.
