Does anyone have an idea what this might be, or even where it came from? The photos are of the same coin/token, just trying to get a good shot. I picked this up in a junk drawer in a coin shop in Germany.
There seemed to be more of a "we don't know, but it's not an ancient coin so try world coins". I couldn't find anything in Morocco that matched it, though I'm inclined to think it comes from Morocco as well.
I am not so sure about that. The only Morocco coin with a hexagram on both sides which I could find has a circle in the center. it is KM#94: http://secure.numismaster.com/ta/Co...&CountryId=morocco&DenomId=&KM=94&Comp=&Date=
I concur. I couldn't find anything that matched Morocco. Sadly, it only seems easy to tell what it isn't.
Well it certainly could be a Moroccan falus because fewer than half of them in the catalog have pictures. But lots of them all have the hexagram with circle described as the seal of Solomon. That, to me, seems unlikely that they would have a different hexagram on some coins.
My initial thought was "Star of David" which would point towards Israel. Which would be... interesting... seeing as how you got it from a shop in Germany. Maybe a search on Numista for "Star of David"? I don't know.
Numista looks promising. There is a Moroccan falus dated 1220 which has the hexgram with something other than a circle.
Could be Umayyad Caliphate? Similar tree: http://m.ebay.com/itm/650AD-Umayyad...4&pid=100520&rk=1&rkt=4&sd=322170875632&rt=nc
