What is the most 'unique' coin that you have? Can you post a picture?

No problem! I agree in some respects each coin is unique - particularly when you start noticing all the minor errors. Every individual coin also has its own history - sadly we can only know some of it. My only pedantry was on the use of the term "most unique", which I believe to be grammatically incorrect regardless of context.

But let's not argue about it - I am enjoying the excellent coins being posted on this thread!

While I do not own one (and am not following my OP title...), this is probably the most unique coin I have seen...

More Correctly, its a COPY of a design submitted by Frank Gasparro for the new small dollar design. Evidently, commissioned by Ken Potter.

That is quite alright. All was not lost. I was able to purchase a 2006 Irish proof set and a 2003 10-euro proof that had ended at the same time. Definitely a good day.

I would bet the farm that this started out as a regular cent and spent time in an acid bath. I used to make these in my mis-spent youth, and they looked just like this. It is amazing how much detail remains for losing so much metal.

Hey all. Thanks to Derek (dbcoinman) for posting the pic of our newp. The old German Thaler shows John baptizing Jesus, and is pretty cool. The reverse is supposedly scriptures but multiple German readers have been unable to translate it exactly because it's archaic....would be like us reading Shakespear. It's not really a Thaler, technically. I'm a little confused why NGC dated it 1741 when the coin clearly shows a date of 1616 (reverse rim lettering). This is far from my area of experience but my best guess would be the piece commemorates something that happened in 1616. Anyone own this or seen it before? I'd appreciate some enlightenment :)

Very nice Tauftaler, also known as a Baptism Taler. They were given to the child that was being baptized from the child's godfather. The 16.16 is not the date, so here is a little info. on what the 16.16 stands for: HE WHO BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE BLESSED BE THE 16th Mar 16th Inscription: This is the meaning of the 16th inscription : God the Father / the baptism for children / on God's son / his blood makes me / just and good in Gods spirit.
