It looks like an 1859 with an altered date. I also believe that it has been lightly circulated and cleaned.

We need better pics of that date. If it was a J-208 pattern coin that would be sweet!

    What a great find!

I sure looks like a 1858 PT28, J-208, P-259, Breen 1940 from Rick Snows Flying Eagle & and Indian Cent Attribution Guide. He states that there are 2 die pairs that had the Broad Bust Point and the Laurel wreath with 5 leaves per cluster.

It's hard to tell the which one this is with these pictures. This coin is scarcer than the 1856 Flying Eagle.

With the first die pair only 75 coins were struck in proof or prooflike MS format. Die pair #2 produced over 200 coins, in proof and MS.

If you can, post some clearer pictures so it can be further identified.

One small problem. He says the date is 1853. Looks like a re-worked coin.

 Oh, That's too bad. It would have been great if it was a 1858.
Still would like to see some better pictures.

Some 3's on IHC's look like 8's, as in the 1873 Closed 3. I'd still like to see a close up of the date so I can put this sleeping dog to bed.

No bids on it yet, either.
    I'm sure someone will.
