No it is NOT obvious that the winning bidder was not using a bidding service. Yes, he placed his bid 6 1/2 minutes after the loser put his $276 bid in, but only 3 seconds before the end of the auction He put in a snipe bid of $281+ whether he did it manually or with a service doesn't really matter. Lets just say he did it manually 3 seconds before the end of the auction. When he chose what he was going to bid, what did he see the high bid was? If the losing bidder HADN'T already bid he would have seen $103 something. Do you really think he would have bid a lot less than he did ($281+) if he saw a $103 bid rather than the $110.50 high bid that he actually did see because the loser bid early? I don't think so. I think he had that $281+ planned long before it was executed.

And the fact that the winning bidder had placed a $77 bid six DAYS earlier is immaterial. He could have been doing that just to add the coin to his watch list, and possibly just testing the waters. No this was a case of a "Gotta have it!" bidder up against a "Gotta have it! sniper. so it sold for crazy money and would have no matter when the loser placed his bid.m
