This was not on any other coin in the roll and the last 10 or so rolls that these coins came from have been stored the same way. No PVC at all, It's not my storage method.
Water did remove some of the green as it was all over the qtip. But it really didn't even make a dent into the problem.
Years ago before I joined CT, I would roll what ever I didn't know about. They could have came from a bank roll before I stuck them in there. I am just not sure. The other 40 or so coins did not have this on the surfaces. Nor do the other 10 or so rolls of wheats that I have gone thru.
So I still have to take some photos of the worst one. This is the redder one It soaked for a couple of days without much change. Today I put it in a couple of baths in acetone, with a Qtip roll in between followed by a distilled water soak. The luster is incredible, I got close but didn't quite capture it. Dark fine appearance.
Off to get a skin in an album. Yes there is soe surface damage, it is light and still has tone. I wish I had some Verdicare. Maybe I should send one of these cents to you @BadThad
Here is the Browner of the two and if you don't remember the base of the bust was covered. As a brown This one has what would probably be called grafitti below the R.
I have some Verdi-care on the way, hopefully them put it on the truck for todays delivery. There are 7 others with this appearance.
MS70 removes all the corrosion/verdigris. But what happens is it turns them unnatural blues, reds and purples. MS70 works great on white metals, just not on copper or brass.
