As an ANA Member, I'd feel slighted if I could not express my opinion on an open public forum.

Also as an ANA Member, I'm kinda wondering "why" the ANA does not host its own public forum?

As for Larry Shepherd? The very act of terminating his relationship with the ANA for "unknown reasons" causes concern and casts doubt upon him.

    Its just that simple.

It does not take a rocket scientist to understand what is wrong with the ANA. It is actually so simple that they cannot "see" the solution.

Eliminate the "politics", start serving the "membership" and growth will be the end result.

BTW, I rarely bother with reading the Numismatist and cancelled my hard copy with last years membership.

That's why I specifically said the Mag has gotten a lot better. In past 6 months, it's published some really excellent research pieces. Long and in-depth. You would not even recognize the mag if you last read an issue 12+ months ago.

Might want to give it another go, I think you might be surprised.

I let my ANA membership expire after they fired 3 directors in a row.

That was the first question of the day for me. There's more info in the various links posted on the first page of this thread, but the relevant detail is that he is formerly a director of the ANA.

yeah, that is more than a bit embarrassing. Reading the departing letter from the last one was fun.

I guess coin talk will need a new list ~ CT members visited by the law~ :)

Whether CT one can find any fault with CT's actions isn't the point when it comes to a lawsuit, especially at the outset. I work in the insurance industry and I can tell you that when there is a 3rd party action everyone within a city block gets dragged in. The lawyer's first goal is to shake everyone up and hope that they can get you talking settlement. The second goal is to get your insurer, if there is coverage, to at least start talking settlement. The third goal is if there isn't a satisfactory deal made with the primary target to make that up with these smaller settlements from those that have little or nothing to do with lawsuit's purpose.

Fortunately many of the insurers have caught on and it's just not as easy as it used to be for personal injury lawyers.

I'm trying to figure out why Larry would want to involve us with his lawsuit against the ANA. I'd take it as a compliment really.

CoinTalk must really be something if a former ANA director wants our help.

Sending someone to bang on my door early in the morning like if I was a common criminal, and scaring my family, is NOT asking for help. It's intimidation.

He's not asking for our help. Re-read what Peter said on the first page.
