Can this quarter be real? If so, is it worth anything? 20210407_065105.jpg 20210407_065105.jpg 20210407_065451.jpg

Someone probably used a Dremel tool on it. I wasn't there, so this is only speculation.

I don't know. I don't think I'd accept it. You might still be able to pass it at a drive up line, especially when they're real busy, like during the lunch hours. Good question you ask, BTW.

Well, it is a Quarter but it's been damaged.

Howdy Mountain Girl. If you can run your fingernails over the surface and it detects small ridges, it has been gone over with a tool or something, so PMD, post mint damage, and NAV, no added value. Interesting find, but barely worth 25¢. Keep your eyes open. Good luck.

Looks like it slid around in a dryer face up for a very long time.

Thanks everyone, just what I needed. I dont want to pay to have something graded only to find out its worthless. But you're right it is kind of cool.

hey @Mountain girl yea I'm thinking Dremel tool like @cpm9ball mentioned. whatever it was, the damage occurred after it left the mint or PMD (Post Mint Damage) for short. good luck next time....

Thank you. I just couldn't believe someone could actually spend it. I have another question , why would a nickel weigh more than 5 grams?

Scale issues is a common problem. Is it on a flat surface and properly calibrated?

Also, the specification for nickels is 5 grams +/- 0.194 grams. So it can weigh more and still be considered normal

LOL.. WHY ARE YOU YELLING? I also disagree with you. Only in more severe grinding of clad layer coins.
