I'm very late to discover this thread, but seeing as it was started years before I found CoinTalk, maybe my absence is understandable. These have been posted elsewhere, but they fit in perfectly with the subject matter. I've had this brutalized Peace Dollar in a forgotten unloved coin tin for decades. It was just too ugly to let it out into the light of day. After joining CoinTalk and learning about acetone baths, I decided to get it out to see if it wouldn't benefit from a week at the spa - the chemical spa. Well, after a month of soaking, there was zero improvement. I was almost ready to give up on this coin until I saw a couple of folks post photos of coins intentionally pocket carried to achieve this attractive CirCam circulated look. I figured carrying this coin wouldn't hurt it any worse than it had already been damaged. After a month of pocket carry, this is how this Peace Dollar looks today, along with it's sister pocket carry piece, a CirCam Morgan Dollar. A huge improvement on the Peace Dollar I think. It's not all the way to where I would like it, but another month of carry and it should be there. Z
