Featured What is a "CircCam", you ask? Look and see! And post yours!

    You need one of those!

My first, an 1875-CC, was a CircCam. Unfortunately I have no pics of it.

My latest, from slightly before this thread was first posted, was an 1877-S. It is in the original post. It had a subtle little rim hit (seen around 1:00 on the reverse here), but it was otherwise awesome in all regards. I need to get another.

I know not a true cam. More like an eagle cam. Lol.

Do you think it is worth it to pick it up for 130 dollars?

While that's not a totally insane price for a Trade dollar in that grade range (looks G4-G6 in that obverse image), its not a screaming bargsin, either. I'd hold out for a better one. Or try to talk 'em down a bit.

Also, if you're going to be purchasing one raw (i.e., one that isn't certified by PCGS, NGC, ANACS or ICG), then I'd recommend you post clear obverse and reverse pictures here so the forum can advise you, since Trade dollars are widely counterfeited, sometimes dangerously so.

Is that a dollar. Book not handy. Found it. Half dollar. Whats up with the tail feathers on the reverse. Why a straight line on top. Is that. Somewhat special?

Yes, half a dollar. As for the straight line on the tail feathers I believe you are looking at a scratch which unfortunately (from an affordability standpoint, fortunate) stretches from the edge above the first A in America across the eagles front leg.

I got this at a show for just a small amount above the number you stated. And a circam to boot! IMG_0908.JPG IMG_0909.JPG

To me, vf35 close to a xf40. But I'm still learning the grading aspect

I recently bought an 1853 seated quarter. Absolutely love it. Was going to buy that other 1853 coins. Until I went back to the same shop. There is another 53 quarter that almost the twin of mine! Will be getting it tomorrow. So it mite be the start of precivil war quarters or even just 53 quarters.
