The entire world would have to deem silver and gold worthless for themselves. Whether that be bars, coins, jewelry, kalashes, or ever Colorado's gold gilded capital dome. Low for silver on Jan 4th was $14.00
"What if Silver becomes worthless and Gold..." ... and gold what? Also becomes worthless? Or is that an incomplete thought?
That's an idea. Then build a house of GOLD and SILVER (instead of wood, brick, concrete, siding, etc). It would be worthless but look really Pretty !!
If silver and gold become worthless, I will buy it all lol. The question is, if they did become worthless, how much would the Mint be charging for 1oz gold eagles?
How would this affect valuation for all metals? (copper, palladium, steel, aluminum, platinum, iron, etc) I would think all metals would have to have no value of course, the black market could be a different story.
CAOS! I think I would go underground with all the freeze dried food I could find, along with all my silver coins and wait it out......hopefully I have enough food and plenty of ammo to survive.
If it became worthless, why even buy it, just put up a sign in front of your house "All gold and silver taken here for free". Heck, most scrap steel is pretty much worthless right now, I can't even get a scrap dealer to pick it up anymore, I have to deliver it to them for nothing. But I'm still hoarding copper, brass and aluminum and circuit boards with gold in them.
Its silly. This wont happen. Everyone alive today has been taught Gold and Silver have value. That cant be instantly unlearned by the entire world. They wont become close to worthless in any of our lifetimes.
you don't know that for fact. they could come up with a way to synthesize gold and silver. Then your precious is just metal. clank.
I'll hop on my magic carpet and start rounding up the flying pigs to keep in my gingerbread ranch house while admiring my portrait of President Hillary. In other words - it ain't happening. Every generation asks "what if" and it's good to ask, so the adults can give you the real story. I remember my dad buying Krugerrands in the 70's and our neighbor asked that same question... As if somehow this decade would be different after the thousands of years before it.
You certainly don't know for a fact what science will be like in the coming decades. anything science you can't understand would appear to be "magic". I don't invest everything into one thing anyway. That would be really stupid to have your whole net worth in gold and silver
