As said, likely a beginner submitted this. And a good reason why, if I'm not 100% sure on a doubled die, I'll send to Wexler. Cheapest way to be wrong at $3.00.
Again probably believe that it was an off center strike... and that it was worth slabing...and of course it isn't
As the song goes..."Ain't That A Shame". Seems like they are losing out on a lot of ANACS business that way. Or maybe they just are not interested?
I don't think there is one coin that has a perfectly centered strike...maybe NGC should put 'misaligned die' on all of their slabs from now on.
Considering they don't guarantee their attributions, why not attribute other things? Nice income source they are passing up on.
I don't either. That's why I had to buy it, it was just silly. I guess I underestimated the willingness of some people to spend their money.

Agreed, I honestly had trouble discerning it being off-center. I don't know how someone thought this was somehow worth money...
If you ever look at Etsy a 1977-D cent is being offered for sale at $25,000. I complain to them, but they don't care.
I realize it would cost them money, but when they get something ridiculous like this shouldn't they call/ contact the customer and tell them they are sending it back with a bill for 50 cents postage? And then of course you open a barrel of monkeys, because where do you draw the line? But is it really proper for them to grade this and take the money, instead of having some integrity and doing the right thing?
