Yes it's a raw purchase. It came in this really cool holder.

Thank you, I've looked at a lot of these at coin shows and online. While the one's I really liked were way out of my price range and the one's that were within budget, just did not speak to me. This one just knocked me over. It's not toned, which is kind of what I was wanting, but the overall eye appeal of the bright luster, hammered strike and clean surfaces made up for it.

I don't think I want to get it graded, I really like it in this holder and I know it's protected in it. :)

I agree, it's my absolute favorite design of all of the commemoratives. And it's know coincidence that James Earl Fraser also designed one of my other favorite coins, the Buffalo Nickel. ;)

That holder is allot nicer than any TPGs holder for sure. Keep it where you got it! Smiles!

    I’d guess 66, maybe 67.

I dunno... it is a cool holder for sure, but will it protect as much as a top 3 TPG enclosure?

At least 66. If it were mine it would be off to PCGS (not that I’d want to sell it, but my heirs might want to) and it would match my other classic commemoratives that are 65/66 in PCGS holders.

According to "The Authoritative Reference on Commemorative Coins: 1892-1954" by Kevin Flynn, there is at least one graded by NGC at MS69.

While it may not be sonically sealed like a TPG plastic, I'd sure trust it to protect the coin as well if not better than a TPG holder. The downside is there is no numeric grade that could be used to establish a valuation for insurance purposes. I would honestly call it a 66+ with a good shot at 67. I do like it in this holder though. :)

PCGS has 7 in 68 and 1 in 68+ for this date and mm. NGC has 15 in 68 and 2 in 68 Star. So I highly doubt it would achieve such a lofty grade.
