What grade do you think this 1926 S Oregon Trail half is?

    Sorry for the poor pics.

Do you think there's any sign of cleaning involved?

The rim looks "warped" - do you think this is just PMD or a mint error? It obviously gets narrower, but one side of the rim looks the same as the top with the angle look.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I see what you mean about the tapered edge, but I don't have the slightest idea how that could have happened.

Maybe it could be an error?

Or, I guess it could be a PMD hit at the exact same angle.

If it was PMD, you'd see damage on one or both surfaces of the coin.

I think it was squished at some point after leaving the US Mint.

Are you serious, Tom, or are you just pulling my leg?

The way I interpreted the image made me think the coin was slightly bent, but I could certainly be wrong.

The area in question looks to be the same thickness a little closer to the center compared to the rest of the rim, and then curves a little into the rim (if that makes sense). I'm not sure what to make of this. The thinner side is on the obverse at between 3 and 4 o'clock. Maybe it was struck on a planchet that wasn't evenly thick (?).

It's nice, wish I had an answer for you. In the first pic, it's interesting that there's a sharp edge at the top of the rim, 11-1 but no rim from 4-6 which isn't directly opposite.

Maybe it's a thin-regular planchet hybrid, like a combo of the coins below.

I guess that would be the same as an uneven thickness planchet.

Could be a little too out there on that theory though...
