What does it mean when someone "follows" you on the site, or you're following someone else?

I've recently discovered that I'm getting links to everything the person I'm following does on the site.

 

Click on your name at the top right, you'll get a new page, click on "News Feed". That will show you what the people you follow are doing.

 

I was gonna mention that but.......

I am the most illiterate tech person on the forum. I had always wondered the same thing...... So I clicked on my name at the top right. Where is this "new feed" button you speak of?..... I'll be back after I get some sausage gravy.

 

I had to look for it too. When you put the cursor over your name there's a pulldown menu that appears and News Feed is the first item in the right hand column (across from Personal Details). That's assuming we all see the same things on our pages...

There's that and maybe some are just really interested to see how that eclectic collection evolves. I know I am.

Another reason someone may wish to "follow" someone is related to conversations. You can limit the ability for members to "start conversations" to only those that you follow via your privacy settings. It can also be used to block members from viewing or posting on your profile page. It is probably out of the box with Xenforo.
