It looks to me as wiping off the cobwebs would be considered cleaning a coin. I think there is a VF hiding under all that.
A lot of people saw the debris on the obverse and assumed they were scratches. Rinse the coin in acetone when you get it, pat dry, and enjoy the good deal you got
This is why I made this post. Everyone passed on this auction showing just how important clear photos are for a seller. I get some of my best buys from photos like this. I you look very close in these situations, often there are tell tale signs of what it will grade. (obviously not a exact science) I will post photos when I receive the coin. I will be surprised if it doesn't grade VF or better.
This was delivered yesterday. The obv. was tacky and there was paper fiber and hair stuck to it. Whatever it was acetone wouldn't touch it so I washed it with soap and water and then soaked it overnight in acetone. The result is posted in the "Under $50 Purchase" thread.
