That's not too different than the way the lotto works right now.

Live comfortably while I watch others suffer of course

Did you know most people who win the lottery lose it all fairly soon to the winning?

But seriously, If I had that kinda money, not-for-profit charities would love me, I would invest in businesses and maybe even create jobs for other people.

I sure as heck would not just give it to people who are not willing to work for what they have.

True. You don't get nearly that much money because the government takes their cut. And the IRS (Gubmint again)

Hence they "doesn't automatically." ;) Of course if someone is cheating the government or engaging in corruption they should be stopped and punished. BUT, not all wealthy people do this - many earn their wealth honestly by working hard, and who's to say they can only keep $250k of what they justly earned? They're not stealing or cheating or denying anybody else money, so again, what's the problem?

Buy myself a complete set of AU draped bust coinage, that's what. :D

But you'd better not overpay with the risk of being called a "greedy hoardster" :dead-horse:

Well that's the point. The 'corruption' is part of the system, it's the Inc. at the end of the company name. So it really is automatic.

If you earn all your money as a sole proprietor and never take any government protection, more power to you. Such a person has successfully earned every penny of their money, and exposed themselves to huge liability in the process. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

But if your company is incorporated, and you get a special deal with the government to limit your liability for injuries caused by your corporation, then you have not earned your money in the same moral sense as the sole proprietor, because you aren't taking the same risk as him. So something is gained, but nothing was ventured, because the people running a corporation are never exposed to true risk of their personal assets.

This thread's beginning to resemble a Mystery Science Theater segment.......

My dad was an idiot in many ways but one thing he taught me was that life is NOT fair. This whole "fairness" thing is part of the reason we, as a country, are in the mess we are in. What ever happened to personal responsibility? If you overpay at the auction... thats not fair... that could be 3 dollars that I could have but you took it. Makes a lot of sense, huh?

I think this thread has just about run its course and should be locked.
It has devolved into another attempting-to-educate-a-troll exercise, in addition to becoming completely political.

What on Earth are you going to do with so many Buffalo nickels?! I think we should cap the number of buffalo nickels anyone can have in any one year at 11. That would be fair.

In my infinite wisdom, I have determined that you have more than your fair share of coins from that auction and demand you send most of them to deserving members of this forum! ;)

You overpaid!!!??? What about that guy that's looking to get a deal? He probably can't believe that someone paid more than fair market value for something he wanted. I can't wait for his thread complaining about that!

Hmmm. It sounds as if your willing to make "a waste of time" into "an EXPENSIVE waste of time"?

    Whatever.

    Wow.

I am soooooo glad that the majority of United States Citizens do not feel the same way as you do.

I can think of more than a few Power Ball winners that would take exception on being required to give a bulk of the "fair" winnings back to "the People".

I can think of sefveral hard working millionaires that would vigorously reject the notion that, just because they worked hard at their businesses, the idea of giving it all back to "the People" is just ridiculous.

Folks are free to think or believe in whatever they want, but htis one is just over the top.
