He’s pretty but no show stopper. The chatter on old Honest Abe’s shoulder and cheek relegate him to less than 64 I believe.
Hey, Kentucky no matter what you say there really isn't much you can say to change some folks minds. I say tell them to send it in and get the markets opinion.
The pictures are over exposed, which makes it hard to grade. Still I see too many marks on Lincoln's coat regardless of what the rest of coin is. Therefore, it is not worth the grading and shipping fees.
So, you have become a middle man for someone that evidently doesn't trust CT members opinions? I'd tell him to spend the money and send it in so he can see how TPG influence the market.
The grade isn't really important. What is is that this has a zero percent chance of going 67 or better, so it's got to be a pass for him.
Most people here try to give good advice and save the person who posts some money. It’s got nothing to do with “respect.” Here is a piece of advice. The chances of finding something in random pocket change that is worth the grading and shipping fees is very low. That advice is infinitely stronger if you found a “error coin” in a parking lot. If you go through hundreds of rolls of coins, you might find something. But after you have picked your eyeballs off the floor, the chances are still remote. Today something has to be worth a few hundred dollars to make it worthwhile. The best most people do is to find some “junk” 90% silver coins. Those pieces are not worth the grading fee.
Disrespected? Here? Laughed at (maybe), made fun of(probably) but never, never disrespected......It's an incorrigible, motley lot here, with oodles of knowledge, and sometimes peoples gotta learn how to take a few slings and arrows with grace and fortitude. And if you can do that, you'll be a man my son... Kipling
that was the greatest most heartfelt statement i think ever posted.hear hear sir.i just cant tell you how many times the honesty here has been painful yet only to entice me to respect the hobby even more.i prize the knowledge i gain here second only to the addition of a new pinball machine at the local arcade. which i have used as my depository several times for my collection after asking opinions here.may the owner of that penny use these truths to become better at his skills.you just cant buy those opinions for a penny!
The only time I sent any coins to be graded was when I first started collecting. I bought a $20 Liberty Head double eagle and a$10 Liberty Eagle. I bought them from a local dealer. He was going to the show and offered to have them graded. He got a deal on them but the $20 came back Details - Scratch on the face. The $10 was graded by NGC MS 61. I don't have any coins graded. If I want a graded coin, I buy it graded.
