Hello everyone - new to the site but been collecting copper (and I guess Zinc) for a little over twenty years. Just saw this listing on Ebay and wanted to see what you guys thought it was. He seems to be very straight forward in his description about the cleaning which is a rarity in itself. I'm not schooled in error coins or funky things that happen with dies but am trying to learn. Is it a cracked die or a load of bull?

My guess would be die damage. Others more experienced with errors will come along and probably correct me. :) I think the seller has a way overinflated view of the value to put it mildly.

I'm interested to hear opinions on the suspected matte proof.

Doesn't look like a matte proof to me, but it could be the pictures or the damage/wear on the coin. Kind of high in the price area.

I think it would get up to $10 if he started the bidding at face value.
