    What do you guys think? Does the 1 in 81 look like an error or just damage to the coin? There aren't any scratches anywhere on the coin that would make me think it was anything other than some sort of error. Haven't really seen this before, that's why I'm here. TIA

    Looks like a hit (PMD) at the right place at the right time. What's that on Abe's coat, a stain? Also, when you post pictures show both side on the coin if you can.

    Yes, that coin took a hit. It's not a mint error.
    I agree that you should post pics of both sides.
    You should also rotate your photos to look like this:

    Yes, it's a stain. I found it in some change. I'll be sure to post both sides next time and rotate. It's my first post. Still learning. Thanks for the fast replies.

    Innocent question.:angelic::sorry:

    Why should the OP need to post both sides of THIS COIN?

    So, the reason to post both sides of THIS COIN is:___________________.

    He doesn't and shouldn't with this particular coin, but since showing both sides is often important, it's just a good habit to have.

    I guess he doesn't have to. Sometimes the opposite side of a coin may shows evidence of the initial problem. I guess I'm just in the habit of posting both side to eliminate any questions such as these. JMO.

    I'm new to coin forums. I'm going to make a wild guess and say PMD means Post Mint Damage...or its equivalent. Am I close?
