I can relate to your story. there's nothing like searching for a coin for 1-12 years and finally getting it. I do that happy coin getting dance in my head. "I love coins for what they are not if I can get a profit from them." My favorite coin is not my most expensive coin either. I do not plan on selling any of my coins soon. I would probably trade for other coins before I would sell them. it all depends on your focus. when I first started out collecting coins I was all over the place. then 12 years down the road I am much more focused on with coins take priority in getting first. do not get me wrong I still have my MISC. section lol. there's doing the whole denomination set for certain countries. type coins. and over all top grade coins. so there's no limit as to your next coins purchases. the most important thing is to have fun doing it. I very much enjoy the hunt. If I cannot find it I am reading up on it.

    Anoobs Chase Coin

There are several coins that I have searched for for a long time in a condition that was acceptable at a price I could afford.

I found this sometime ago..."I performed that "Happy Coin Dance" in brain numerous times when it arrived. It is really nothing special to the eye, but it is rare and IMHO historically significant. It is by no means my most expensive or nicest condition coin, but it surely was a personal accomplishment to obtain it-and at a deal.

Billon Tridrachm of Hannibal Second Punic War

    Billon Tri-drachm 25.6mm x 10.54g

Reverse: Horse Standing right, Palm tree behind.

That coin has great eye-appeal despite the soft features - and to acquire a true rarity at a decent price is always a bonus.

Interesting coin. I have never seen a billon Punic coin before.

Of what I have found, the next step up say "VF" condition would command $850, for a small fraction of that "F" is "F" by me.

I have long wanted a Punic Carthage type set, I think this borders on impossible who would of thought that a people could come up with that many variations of horse, palm tree, Tanits and Helmets. Mind Boggling. In the future, I hope to own Punic Carthage in Silver. (I would be happy hanging it up there) but I also want Electrum and Gold-all of which are exceptionally phat, with a thousands of dollars required to own one.

In the interim I will playing the cash "5" wish me luck.

I always wondered about that, the "72 virgins" to Islamists if they sacrifice themselves. Anyone ever wonder if they were just 72 ugly dudes just like the suicide bomber? :)

Heh well I always assumed it was 72 maidens, as in female virgins. That would really suck though. You go and blow yourself up and you're expecting your heavensent, eternal reward and instead in walks 12 D&D groups from around town, dice and manuals in tow.

They got a bad translation. It's actually one 72-year-old virgin.

I read in the book " Carthage Must Be Destroyed" that you could- if you did not want to Sacrifice your child to the Tophet of Tanit (described as a huge fire pit with a large marble and bronze statue of Uranus with arms out stretched) than you could...

    A) Buy and Sacrifice a street child.

    B) Sacrifice Animals in a 3:1 ratio of Animals to children.

Its a neat tidbit that corroborates the Greek and Roman stories of Carthaginian Barbarity. The book is largely based on the recent archaeological evidence taken from Manga Grecia, North Africa and Iberia.
