Hi Everyone, I'm new to the hobby and appreciate your opinions. I'm starting off collecting proof sets, either through dealers or E-Bay. My question is, there seems to be an awful lot proof sets from the late '50s and early '60s that are being advertised as "unopened". Can there really be that many unopened proof sets from 50 years ago?
TC2007: First welcome to the forum. Second, no, there are probably not that many, most were most likely resealed.
99% of my coins are foreign as i find the u.s. coins boring and dull. i have a large collection of u.s. coins but i inherited them and have no plans of selling. but mostly foreign and to be more specific german coinage. marksman01 ___________________________________ “I'm not handsome in the classical sense. I collect British India, Portuguese India, Republic India, Travancore and Danish India coins... As I'm nearing completion in British India, Republic India and Travancore, I've started collecting Republic India banknotes and error notes issued by the Reserve Bank of India.. I do have fairly good collection of Polish coins .. And yes... I collect only those coins which were intended to be circulated or circulated.
I had to mark Random Mixture. It's mostly U.S. and a bit of Roman Imperial with a couple others thrown in.
Biju,I am glad that you've seen the light,as it were,& stuck to collecting real coins, not those medal-coins that you have to pay a huge price above the face value for. Did you manage to buy any of those 1949 Dominion of India pattern coins yet? Aidan.
