I do not collect foreign coins but this was in a bin for $.20 so I bought it. It's dated 1854 and I'm thinking France. The obverse has the man's face and the date along with "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR" and the reverse has the eagle with "EMPIRE FRANCAIS" above and "DIX CENTIMES" below. The eagle is holding something in his claws but I can't tell what it is. There are arrows above and below on both sides with the letter "A" directly under the eagle. What do I have? Any help is appreciated.
These are very common but you did very well for a 20c pick bin grab. Usually the ones you find in pick bins are much more heavily worn and/or damaged. That one is a wholesome circulated example. Nice find.
