What die wear looks like on the die...

    What I was hoping for was quadrant shots that show the same things as pics 1 and 2 showed. That particular angle and lighting showed the most of all the pics.

    edit - those 2 are just amazing pics !

    The US Mint defaces retired dies. If workable dies were released, the opportunity to make counterfiets would be too easy.

    Try these Doug... I can't replicate those first 2 shots... but I got close.

    The second shot shows some of the flaws in the actual cutting of the die... you can see the lumps in the shield.

    Excellent ! They even show things I didn't notice before. They were there, I just didn't notice them. Like the W, it was re-cut.
