I went into a shop that said "Buy Gold" and it turns out it isn't a pawn shop nor a coin shop. They buy scrap and sell to refineries, I think. I asked if they had any coins and the eager 'wife' of the man at a desk said that coins just came in but haven't been sorted. She showed me a small box of common 90%. I saw one peculiar coin though. It had the size and obverse of a Morgan but where the date would be, stars ran through it instead. What was it I saw? Bullion coin?
Like @cpm9ball said, it sounds like a round from a private mint. Here is one that I found online that might be similar: https://www.goldenstatemint.com/1-oz-morgan-silver-bullion-round-999-fine.html
If it looked proof-like, definitely a round. I've gotten rounds before with the Morgan Dollar design but without a year on it. Also if anything says "troy ounce" or ".999 fine" they're bullion coins. Morgan Dollars are under an ounce and .900 fineness.
That was it! I tried to find something similar online but didn't come up with anything in the search. Thank you all.
