Found over 500 grams of silver, so far, in loose change in 13 months! And thank you, i try to keep it light...
Slow day. No pre war, or war time nickels. That's only happened 3 or 4 times in 13 months. But i did find this proof, i think. Sounds like a silver proof, but it looks like someone tried to color in some toning. I'll give two different lighting examples. Natural Think that lighting looks artificial? Lol I've found 3 silver proofs of the state quarters, so far. Do all years of coins have silver quarter proofs that could end up in circulation? If so, I've got a lot more work to do.
I did find that elusive '50 D that everyone has been talking about. Wink. But look how close! I'll find one. I've probably thrown back 10 in the past 13 months not knowing what I'm looking for, lol.
Too keep the fun going, and to spark interest in coin collecting in the younger generation, I plan on spending the old circulated nickels (and dateless buffaloes) I collected as a kid in the fifties since I have upgraded those collections.
What a great idea! I saw my first Buffalo at 12. I didn't know money ever looked different. I was thrilled! I have found over 100 each of the 40s & 41s. I'd start putting them back, but I'm afraid I'll just start seeing them again, in a month or so, lol.
The 1964 nickel. The bane of my numismatic existence. This is just what i found in 1 hour and 320.90 in loose change. They're everywhere, and they're easily mistaken for much older. The one in the top right corner is gorgeous. I'll post a complete pic of all the '64s i find today. Sound fun? Oh well... lol
Nice afternoon, so far. Got right by me. Heard it hit the metal pan, had to shut everything down and find it.
Sorry, got sidetracked. Yay! Only my second '42 with a mint mark! I have 4 or 5 without. And i was so disappointed this morning when i found that other one.
