    It does look like 198? to me. You could put it in a photo editor and play with the levels and see if it shows up better. Also I'd be curious what it weighed, is it copper or a zincoln?

    Well then that's an error because they're only supposed to have 4 digits I think.

    It is definitely a year anywhere from 1909 to 2023..
    You can rule out 1943 because it is not steel.

    Please show both sides of the Cent.

    Looks like a 198? And I really think this is a zinc cent. From the photo it looks it.

    Based on Weight and appearance I'd say for sure it's a zincoln. So not a 1981 I'd say.

    The reverse design is RDV007. That was used between 1992-2008. Not much help by itself. The obverse pictures are blurry so obverse design is more difficult to pinpoint. Looks like it might be ODV-038. So, 1993-1996.

    Better pictures would help.
