Had this coin for years and was determined that one day I would figure out the date. Prior to 2013, I did not have the ability to enlarge and/or change the look through using filters. I finally have the answer. I did not photo the reverse, too messed up. It is a Wheatie. What date do you think it is? Why would you even try? Might as well pull out the 45 and put it out of it's misery.

However, the reverse would help us to narrow the field. Is it a Wheatie, Memorial or Shield reverse? ~ Chris

    It's clearly a 19!8
    or maybe it's a 19 something ....
take a piece of paper over the date, and use a sideways pencil and lightly etch to see if you can hit just the high spots and see a partial date. This technique is used on gravestones, which is where this probably was.

Not a 1918. MM is too far from the 9.

It's a 19?8. I doubt we'll ever know that third digit. But then, does it really matter?

Just list it on etsy as one of a kind mint error. Joking of course.

there's probably hundreds like it on there already .. watering down the "mint error" pool on etsy.
