I was just wondering why you specifically wrote 1970P. Any silver Kennedy would be a very nice Christmas gift in my opinion.

It depends... a new (young) collector would probably like a shiny silver coin such as a proof Kennedy half or a German 5 Mark screaming Eagle, but an experienced (and older) collector may like a toned coin more. Which one would depend on what that person personally likes...

 

What was your First coin.

 

I started collecting right after I inherited a collection of 10000 (?) world coins so I can't possibly answer that question LOL in the end I kept 3 coins and sold all the others. Let me see if I find pictures of one of those...

 

Well, since I am a Morgan dollar man, it probably would be a Morgan. Maybe something in the XF range so it would have the feeling of having been in commerce. If some coins could talk, what stories they could tell.

 

I would give them an ASE, hopefully a 2015 but it doesn't matter what year that much. In case they don't stick with the hobby they will sell it or give it back to you and you can sell it easily. An ASE is normally never seen by the public so I think it would be a great starter gift. If you want something old, give them a very nice 1943 steel cent piece, can't go wrong with something that regular people never see.

 

I would get them a large denomination proof from the year they were born in high grade.
