I say, buy 19th century type coins! I'm astounded that no one has suggested this yet, beyond some veiled mention of Bust halves. :-D My suggestion - mid grade Bust coinage, higher grade Seated coinage, Shield nickels & 2 cent pieces.
Read a little closer as I touched on 2 cent, 20 cent and Trade dollars. You are right though - a lot of affordable 19th Century type to be had in decent grades. :O)
My bad  I was thinking more along the lines of Large cents. I've heard it estimated that there are only a about a million surviving coins from ALL years. Now imagine the rarity of a key date, like 1821 or so. :eat:
Only a million? That's a new one on me. Mind if I ask where you heard that cuz if it was true I'd be buying them by the roll!
Buy z6f's (2006 -W Burnished ASE)! They have a lot of room to go up. Now that people are getting 2007 W's they will back track and get the 2006's. Mintages are WAY TOO LOW!
I am sitting on 5 06W ASE's and am stopping because i wanna try to squeeze in another reverse proof or the set, its tough with only a part time job
I'm kinda partial to the peace dollars. Get the highest graded one with a mint mark. If you want a P than get a 1927, some say it's a sleep, I just know they're hard to find in MS.
