1882 Morgan DMPL, blue toning on reverse. I always have to catch a glimpse of it before I retire from looking!
Don't think I've replied to this thread, even though it dates to 2005. I've related my "favorite coin" in this thread... http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=839 My favorite note is the first one I ever owned. A CU $1 given to me by the pastor of our church in 1966.
I have some polish one...which sentimental wise I value over all my other coins. Mainly because it's the one I've had the longest...Maybe even the one that got me interested in coins. Prob had it for 10 years or more...im 19.
Right now, it'd have to be my 1808/7 half cent, Breen 1/Cohen 1 in G6. Not only is it the only R7 coin I have, I also cherrypicked it. That was a satisfying purchase! Fish
You guys have to get a better metal detector. I have been detecting since 1989, and I have found quite a few gold rings, and other gold items. Besides the silver jewelry and clad coins by the thousands. Yes, you can really find stuff with a good detector. I use a Whites, but there are a number of excellent brands out there. In addition, I've found plenty of silver coins and large cents Indian head cents (no gold coins, yet). Don't stop trying, it is a great hobby.
hi i just asked you for the collection email me back at Edited--its not a good idea to post ones email address on a forum
a cull 1852 large cent with a neat hole punched through the center and only the 52 are visible on the date. It was my introduction to coin collecting from my grandfather and the first time I realized there was more than lincoln, jefferson, roosevelt, washington, kennedy, ike, and sba. I still wear it on a chain to this day.
Not the most valuable coin I have but the best deal. I was at one of my usual auction stops and coin wise there was not much on this day so I had time to give what they had a good look. In a baggie they had 5 coins, 4 half dimes and 1 seated dime, the dime was dark and hard to see the detail but I had along a 30X magnifier I saw the date 1885s. I went back to my seat and looked at my coin price book and to my surprise the 1885s mintage was only 43,690 well I held my bid card up until it was all done. The hammer went down at $ 66.00. No one else spotted that "s "on the back. Such a deal, it has fine detail but is a mottled black and hard to see detail without a lot of light. i'M STILL SEARCHING FOR THE NEXT GOOD FIND.
