I got this national bank note, and it has this strange damage on it? At first glance it looks like burns, but I belive it may be chemical damage upon closer inspection? What do you belive is the cause? Also notice the light brown spotting around the note.
I was serious about the coffee stains. The tannish brown color does not look like it was burned, IMO. It should exhibit a darker color. Welcome aboard The CT Train and hope you enjoy the ride.
Is that corner's paper more brittle than the corner that is discolored? might be burnt if that's the case .. but then .. I'm not a fire (cigarette burn thing) on money expert.
Welcome to CT. The upper and lower corners on the left side look like they came in contact with something acidic, in my opinion. I had important papers in the trunk of my Austin Healey and the battery, being in the trunk, tipped over and all of the edges of the papers looked very much like what I'm seeing here. Just my observation.
Thank you for your welcomes & observations everyone . So far I like mountain mans theory the best as when you look at the burnt parts it just doesn't look like anything I'm used to seeing fire do. I also thought that the little brown specks on the note seem to have a very similar tint to the burning on the sides.
i think this occurred from using a rolled bill for....how do i phrase this.....a joyful breathing respite. it was done a lot, to reduce waste of the item being used for the respite, and avoiding burnt fingers.
Nice bill but it's damaged. Doesn't look like a burn mark to me. The brown is too light in color. Welcome to CT.
