I agree about the Ancient coins forum. It is the most friendly and active place on in this website.

Was trying to remember what brought me here, and while the search function makes it really hard to find your first post (how about an "older than" next to the "newer than" option?), the first line of my first thread says:

I came here in 2003 when the World Internet Numismatic Society set up some message boards here. Honestly, I didn’t really start to post in the forum for almost 2 years after that.

I stayed because I found more knowledge here per flame post than anywhere else. This place has a deep base of people at the center of this hobby. Many of them, like Mark Feld, are visible by their username. Others, like Insider are not, at least not until recently open about their identities.

I also know this: any time I’ve needed to identify something Coin or currency related, this forum has never let me down, and usually within a couple of hours.

 

Just trying to find the value of my 1964 quarter. Still not convinced it’s 90% silver.

I’ll buy. I’ll buy. Already been told they are 90% silver and valued at a couple bucks. I pulled from circulation in 1965 because it was more brilliant than the other pre 1964 90% silver coins.

I came here to collaborate and discuss coins/ paper money with those who can help me with their knowledge of coins etc. in order to better understand collector's points of view, wisdom on a non-book leaned experience, and familiarity with knowledge based on learned collective knowledge from individuals and those they interact with in the numismatic professional world . I also like to help out in the limited way I can in this hopefully shared pursuit.
