What are these black spots on my bronze antoninianus?

I noticed them after I washed the coin in distilled water. It doesn't look like bronze disease, but I feel like it spread looking at it after a day or two.

These are called horn silver and it's almost impossible to remove as it sticks to the coin for centuries

would it damage a coin like this if not treated? Since horn silver doesn't affect bronze, the coin, at least under the surface layer, should be fine right?
