I have 2 1909 VDB MS65RD Wheat Cents graded by PCGS. I got them both for $170, is that a good deal on my part or a bad deal?
I bought them from a guy on Craigslist. We were both on family vacations in Dallas Texas at the time and everything worked out and I got them.
I paid $170 for the 2, we both felt like that was an even deal. Do you think it is a good deal? Or did he get the better deal?
I don't think they are worth $200 each, that is for the + designation, if I am not mistaken. I would think $300-350 for both would be what you could get.
Neither good nor bad, but likely a fair deal. In other words you paid what they were worth. I say that because both coins are labeled as RD, but based on the pics only the one of them is. The other has toned in the slab so it would not bring Red prices, but RB prices. And neither is exceptional. So the 1 coin is worth about $100, the other about $70. Of course if you tried to sell them for that you'd have to be lucky to find somebody who pay as much as you did. And by the time you paid your selling fees, you would be losing money on the deal. Or, you tried to sell them to a dealer you could expect to get about $130.
