I agree that the "odds" are virtually impossible to calculate. If you happen to be behind someone spending one at the grocery store your odds go up considerably. It's safe to say that most silver certs found in circulation have come from someone's collection or possibly a hoard sitting in a safe or drawer for many years. Once spent, they don't stay in circulation long, they are just too easy to spot and pluck out. I'll give you 1 million to one odds that any 1957 SC you find has not been in constant circulation since 1957.

Every now and then, I get one or more, not as I did in the past. Know your tellers, some will keep them for you, and look for special ones too. About a month ago at my bank a person came in to get change for a $500.00 note, but the bank now will not take any, even though they are still legal. I told her next time to call and I would come and see and exchange for it.
Also, two months an old lady came in and cashed in $300.00 in sliver coins, I missed out on them. Six years ago I got a 1934A Chicago $500.00 FRN note and later that same year, the same teller called, and I got a $100.00 1928 GC Gold certificate. So, yes they are still around. Just be in the right place at the right time.
