I realize the 43 copper pennies, 09 S VDB's, 55 DD pennies, a few choice Morgans and some really key dates of other coins in general.
Those are big money coins that I wouldn't be able to buy.
What about the lower priced coins but still somewhat expensive but more affordable?

As you can see the list is overwhelmingly classic gold and more specifically the 2.5 Indians. Some others that didn’t make the list would be trade dollars and seated dollars

I would have to say pennies are the most, but then nickels, dimes and even quarters have been used.

Oh, wait, you were asking about counterfeits, not counter tops?
Sorry, like others, I just couldn't resist.
In todays world of counterfeits, I'd have to say ANY rare or scarce coins are targeted. Even buying in TPG slabs you can't always be sure.

    Yes, that I did notice.
At least for now buying gold coins isn't in my future:oops:
It did get me looking at 1909S pennie I have, not a VDB but the S mint mark placing got me thinking.. looks legit.. Probably not much of counter fit market for a standard 09S but you just never know??

There's less of a market, but there's some market for pretty much anything. The better ones are generally the better dates but you will also have some common ones where if nothing else they may have just been practicing.

When I search for Trade Dollars on eBay, there's always fakes. Considering how many fake Trade Dollars there are, that list is down right scary if those coins have more counterfeits than TD's.

Here's an example of a laughable fake. It's being sold as legit.:eek::yuck:
