How’s the height on those slabs? I was thinking of a silver dollar sized one as it’s a little higher than a half dollar. This piece of wire sticks up about 1/4” above the coins surface.

Wow…. No, the snap up pretty tight. I am confident there’s not 1/4” of space in there… I’ll take a photo for you

Well…. Actually the foam in the self slab is about a 1/4” thick. I have those and I also have snap tights that have removable rings that you size to your coin, but that foam is only about 1/8” thick.

Not easy to take a photo of this but I did it. Notice how it sticks up?

I just took this photo. It’s the best I can get. It appears that the second seven in the first date is holding the wire down. If I’m correct, it would be the seven was raised when it was minted, and therefore that end of the wire is embedded into the coin itself.

Is it easy to take the slab apart? I’m thinking if the certification process but sending the coin to them is a problem. I don’t want them to damage it taking the self slab apart.

Wild and crazy how far that sticks up isn’t it?

Yes. It snaps together pretty tight but you can stick a knife edge into it and pop it open…… How about if I stick it in an envelope with a five dollar bill. You can play with the slab and use the five dollar bill to sell me one of those halves you were going to sell in your shop?
