    I wis
okay. I’ve tried opening it previously and to no avail but, that doesn’t say much, I have trouble opening regular capsules.

Have you ever considered albums made by the Dansco corporation? They make modern American coin albums that have slots for Proof coins. Makes a great option if you are interested in busting open Proof sets.

Lol, the coins maybe happy but I ain’t. Seeing up close without anything to distract is part of the thrill! I don’t know what the heck I’ll do if I ever buy a slabbed coin... I’ll be polishing that plastic until it wears off or never looking or handling it ever, lol. Like I mentioned to a dealer, it’s one thing to have the coin another to protect it and then protect the holder protecting the coin, but I’m certain that’s old hat to some, the newbie in me, lol.

I’ve looked at a couple of books... some of them are more expensive than the coins going in them. Actually, I’m happy with the holder, although a little scratched here and there, I was just wanting to inspect them up close and personal.

I finally got my proof set opened. The case is slightly damaged on the edge where my knife pried it open and now it won’t stay closed without a rubber band or tape.

There is some spotting going on and the half dollar seems to have some contact damage or something (pics attached). I am still satisfied with the set although the coins ain’t perfect but they seem still near next to.

It is morning and fiddling with the lighting to get it right, before my second cup of coffee, ain’t happening. All other photos came out worse than these so I won’t post them.

Sorry I didn't get to you in time, the post 1999 proof sets can be opened and closed without damage or showing evidence of having been opened. The pre 1999 proof sets are NOT intended to be opened and will typically be damaged if you do manage to open them.

No worries, even if I knew prior that they weren’t meant to be opened, I probably would have anyways. Having a coin that can’t be examined is like keeping the plastic on a couch and never sitting.

Question... what do you mean, my proof set did not all come from the same set? The penny is a large date, do the others follow in these footsteps, large and small date form? The set was sealed and now cannot be in the original case, not that I mind all that much.

Looks like (1975) half of a mint set. Missing Denver half

Yeah, I discovered a few things about the set after the fact. There were other on sale sets in the showcase and I wasn’t even gonna get it after being offered the proof set. I like these mints sets but I will have to double up on some because I can’t stand them sealed in the plastic.
