This poor girl has had a rough life. Struck very early in the Mint's existence. Plugged, counter-marked and Graffitied. J. Stapleton was a gunsmith. This may be his love token for his bride to be.

This one here caught my eye this week as someones next oldest US coin. It is really reasonably priced for a working stiff, and the ealy die state makes it special. Great detail on this relatively inexpensive quality bust. David does layaways sometimes... so just saying. I am already over budget for coins.

 

My oldest US coin is an 1841-O dime,

Oldest coin period is carried with me every day, a 1780 Spanish 4 Reales that very likely circulated as a Half Dollar in the early USA.

I would not mind having a nice example of a 1787 Fugio Cent. "MIND YOUR BUSINESS" I love it!
