vintagemintage, Most other members who replied to this thread had their fun with me and that's OK, but if one of them had just given me your above answer, it would have been a lot more helpful. I re-read the Wikipedia articles before logging-on tonight and it finally dawned on me that the "Westward Journey" Nickels are a sub-group within the Jefferson Nickel family and the alloy composition of the Jefferson nickel hasn't changed in all these years ! So, thank you for being so kind and helpful. Chris (cpm9ball) hit the nail on the head; I did take Algebra in High School and barely passed the course with D's and some F's. I've never been good with abstract thinking, Algebra for example, but I love Trigonometry ! However, I've always wished I was fluent in Algebra; it's a powerful tool and at age 75 my son helps me occasionally when one of my Science-oriented hobbies requires a formula. Sometimes it's just difficult for me to think "outside-of-the-box" and I'm ashamed to say I need someone to lead me down the proverbial primrose path so to speak and point me to the answer. You did that for me, so "you the man !" A BIG thanks to you and others who tried to help. ToddB67
Insider, Over the years my science-oriented hobbies have ranged from Electrical appliance repairs, installing circuits and fixtures in my home (After taking a study course.), designing computer programs for calculations needed in my private business and ballistics calculations for my rifle shooting hobby. These were hobbies I was more active with in my earlier life. Sorry, but I would rather not spend my time digging out examples of computer algorithm's and examples of using Algebra in other sciences. Thanks for your interest though. ToddB64
In retrospect, maybe it would have added to my credibility if I had mentioned that I have 18,000 uncirculated Westward Journey nickels in Mint bags and rolls. Chris
This thread needs pictures! Some of these Westward Journey nickels are available in prooflike condition, but not all of them. Here is a Buffalo graded NGC MS-64PL:
