Went looking for Sally Ride's and re-discovered JFK's
So I went to a couple of local banks today looking for the new Sally Ride AWQ quarters. At least I found 5 rolls of Maya Angelou’s at one bank which I grabbed. The second bank had no AWQ rolls at all, so I decided to ask if they had any rolls of JFK halves. They came back with what they had - $5 worth. Lo and behold, one of them turned out to be a pretty nice 1969-D with a few blemishes seen below, and real nice luster. Wonder if it’s worth more than the 40% silver. I also got a 2000-D, which is probably nothing special, but I had not realized that both the obverse and reverse had been redesigned (not sure when that began). I'm posting pictures of them side-by-side. I’m still learning, so I wonder if you could help me out with a few questions I have about the 1996-D coin’s reverse. Can anyone help me determine if the first “A’ in AMERICA has a bag mark, some grease damage, or something else? Also, what is the reason for the raised impression over the word “DOLLAR”? It doesn’t look like it’s from a wrapping machine, so what is it? I just got a Tomlov DM4S microscope, but I couldn’t capture the entire coin’s image using it, so I took these photos with my iPhone, so I could get the whole image in. Any pointers are appreciated. Thanks.
